Here we are 6 months after DACA was implemented. I'm proud to report that of all the Deferred Action cases that my office has filed every single case that has been decided has been accepted thus far. Some in record time, others more slowly, but still I have many pending a decision.
However, most of my DACA clients already have their social security cards, their work permits and their driver's licences. Although, my office has not received any requests for evidence or any denials thus far, the road has not been so smooth. There have been plenty of bumps along the road, post office mishaps, immigration errors, delays etc. But thankfully all has worked out favorably so far.
Lesson learned:
1. Good things don't come easy
2. Patience is a good thing, everyone needs more of it.
3. Persistence pays off
4. Prayer works too!
* Don't loose hope if your application is still pending, there have been some DACAs approved in record time, my shortest took just 2 months from beginning to end. Yet others are still pending. Some that were sent in September are still pending while most we sent in October, November or December have already been approved.
I don't believe the delay should be considered to be indicative of problems with the application. At least that is not what I have personally seen in my office.
I am a believer that no news is good news! So don't give up, when it seems all your friends have already received positive decisions, you are not alone, your turn will come soon. Here is a link to the latest USCIS DACA statistics.
