The US House of Representatives will hold a hearing tomorrow at 2pm on the issue of granting legal status to people brought illegally to the US as children.
This is the House's version of the DREAM Act that they failed to pass 3 years ago. Many people are saying it is too little too late and they want to protest against it, they say they want reform- all or nothing.
However seeing the road blocks that have been put up for Comprehensive Immigration Reform... I am of the opinion that it might be best to take what we can get now while at the same time keep up the fight for reform. I too want Comprehensive Reform, but the more time passes the less likelihood it has to actually happen. So lets take what we can get while still fighting for more.
Imagine once the 400,000 plus DACA recipients legalize they will have that much more power to have their voices heard. There are many different opinions on the subject. Bottom line is there is a potential to grant legal status to all those that have already received DACA and many more who qualify under the broader provisions of the Dream Act. That is a good thing in my humble opinion.
